Goiatins

The city was created on November 12, 1953 and installed on January 1, 1954. Its origin dates from 1920, when merchant Montano Araripe Nunes arrived, coming from Balsas (MA), and established a small business, thus giving start to a village called Porto do Sítio. Later, the town was named Santanópolis and later served as subordinate to the district municipality of Pedro Afonso. In 1953, the district was elevated to municipality, under the name Goiatins.
Touristic highlights: rio Manoel Alves Grande and Cachoeira do Bráulio.
Popular festivals – São Francisco de Assis, festa do Divino and Festa de São João.
